Ok, let me break this place down honestly. The cheesesteaks are steak-ums, the dogs are cooked in grease, the Dari-creme is soft serve vanilla, and they take cash only. If you think "everything" on the cheesesteak is L, T, M - you're in for a big surprise. Its everything except that! The waiting / ordering / seating area couldn't be smaller, four people in line and you're standing outside. It's borderline the foot long version of Soup Nazi. Announce your order with a clear, crisp voice and step to the right (or left). Only difference is you present your money when you get your bag of food, not before. But there's something about this joint that keeps bringing 'em back for more. If nothing else, I just enjoy watching the ladies work, they way they remember everyone's order is legendary. Of course, while you're waiting, you get elbowed, foot trampled, and I think I got violated by the cabbie waiting for the double dog. Only the daring grab a stool at the counter, you will get to know the dude sitting next to you intimately, but hey - at least it distracts you from the gallon of chili stewing on the griddle. 63 years, and it never crossed their minds to expand that oversized shed??? If John Doe opened the exact same place, it would be on Kitchen Nightmares by the end of the year, but Ann makes it work somehow.

I had a review of this place giving it 2 stars because I felt like an outsider 4 out of the 6 times I've been there. Food was great but the service was questionable. But for some reasons my review isn't here now so here's an update. The first 2 times I've been there, their service was quick and consistent. Their food like the double foot long with chili and their small but cheap burgers are pretty damn good. However the next 4 times I've been there, I felt like an outsider. When you come in, you're in a line that moves towards the counter then after ordering you move to the right usually because that's where the exit is. So when I finally ordered my food which was 2 doubles with chili and 2 plain burgers with cheese and a vanilla milkshake, I moved to the right and sat down on the last chair that was available. There were others that ordered after I did that got their food before I did. A few more got their orders. Then a few more got their orders. I didn't keep track of time but I did keep track of who came after I did. So why did about 6 or 7 people get their orders before me when I ordered before them? Most of them ordered 2+ double foot longs with chili and onions and drinks. I didn't order that much more than they did so why did they get their food first? Only when every customer was handled, I got my food. WTF. Maybe they had a bad time there? Or maybe they've mistaken me for someone else? (Tall, big Asian man is rare in Maryland) Or they had bad experiences with Asians so they assume all Asians are the same? Or maybe those customers that came after I did were their friends so they were just playing favorites? It's appalling to witness and even worse, experience just how many places SEEM to be prejudiced. I may be wrong and I really hope I am, they just really need to serve ALL of their customers the SAME WAY. Get MY DAMN FOOD AT THE APPROPRIATE TIME. DON'T WAIT TILL EVERY LAST CUSTOMER IS GONE TO GIVE ME MY FOOD. It SUCKS when I give them a 5 dollar tip on a less than 20 dollar bill and they STILL treat me like I should get my food last just because.... I don't even know the reason why. Like I said, the first 2 times I've been there, service was good. But the next 4 times including 1 that was recent, was just mind blowing. Never again.

The best footlongs in Maryland. Cash only, great prices, and friendly faces. The amazing part is they remember my order without writing it down

CASH ONLY! A nostalgic place for local residents. Unhealthy junk food. Good cherry shake. I haven't tried the food. I don't plan on trying any of it- it seems low quality and unappealing. Has a good offer for military in uniform (should be with an ID- I guess they want the eye candy). The offer is a free small drink or ice cream...? Something like that! Support your local heart attack junk food place! Then head on over to BWMC! I jest. Go! Try! Visit! Treat yourself! Relive your high school dates. But don't expect any actions afterwards- unless your into scat play! Horrendous Las Vegas type sign out front. REMOVE!

I never skip a visit to Ann's when I'm in Maryland. Never. If I do, I have a damn good reason. I usually get a vanilla shake and a double dog, both of which are delicious. This time, I went with a girlfriend of mine, and we got cheesesteaks with ketchup, fries, and shakes. All of them were tasty and fresh. The service is friendly, but the place is very small and it gets busy, so try to order quickly. There are plenty of picnic tables to eat outside, since the counter is very small. CASH ONLY! There is an ATM inside if you forget to bring cash. The prices are also reasonable. Ann's is a Glen Burnie institution. If you haven't been here, do it. At least get an ice cream cone, you'll love it.

When I was new to the area everyone told me about this place. It was built up pretty high by the locals. Umm what do you people see in this place? The hot dog tasted like Regurgitated penguin food. The buns were awful (I see the bakery truck delivering in the morning on my way to the office - thanks won't order from that bakery). The whole experience was awful. Service was awful, they let a regular customer cut in front of us in line without batting an eye and waited on them instead of us. Seriously what do you people see in this place. I make better hot dogs in my microwave. It was awful - the food - the service - the entire experience. I will never ever be back here. EVER! Gross

Hot-diggity dog! Ann's has been a family dive kinda place, since I popped outta the womb. I always order the same thing: a footlong dog with raw onion and ketchup, with my absolute favorite side dish: a banana milkshake! Don't get me wrong, Ann's has a plethora of amazing flavors in all the food they make but I just can't pull myself from the dog and shake. As a young kid my family used to take me to Ann's, but back then it was only a small building (probably the size of a shed). Now Ann's has "expanded". If you've been there and thought it was too small of a joint, imagine it smaller - cuz it happened. It is a CASH ONLY place and the ATM is mostly always broken but you really can't get a better experience. The women who work at Ann's have been loyal to the "dog" and have worked there for many many years.. well, as far as I can remember. They'll memorize your order, since they don't write anything down and have it up for you in a "jif" without error. If you've never been to Ann's.. you just ain't a Baltimorean hon'.

I'm a "local" but I just don't get it. The place is filthy and the staff are usually irritable. The food is terrible. They pride themselves on steakumms and deep fried hotdogs. The only reason they get any stars is for their milkshakes. They are pretty good. Other than that, go somewhere else

Have loved this place since childhood. Double dog with everything? Sure. Why not. :) bring cash and appreciate the fast service and awesome food. I love the fact that this place has stayed a staple of old school and not succumb to the pressure to expand and change and go more commercial. Great milkshakes and fries too!

My mom loves this place it's ok. I wouldn't call there chili dogs famous there just nothing special to me I've had better.

This is the only place I eat chili dogs. I don't like beans, so Ann's recipe is perfect for my taste buds. Yesterday I also got a chocolate shake, it was delicious and the perfect consistency. My recommendation is to not have too high expectations, it's a "burnie favorite" and has the nostalgic theme going for it, but I wouldn't say these are" the best" dogs I've ever had. However, almost anytime we drive up that way, when we see Ann's, something draws us to it...Guess it just has that local charm!

A Glen Burnie staple if there is was one. Pretty good food but it really more of a Time Machine for people that grew up in Glen Burnie. It rare that I go here because I just don't crave the place like I know others do but its consistently good when I do go.

I have been eating at Ann's since before I learned to walk! (I am 44 yrs old, and they have been around a lot longer than I have!!!) A Double Dog with "everything" (which is not what you would get anywhere else - "everything" is chili, onions, and mustard - PERIOD!) and any shake - is the way to go. Their shakes are made from real ICE CREAM - Not the frozen ice crystals with milk that you get at "the Clown" or "the King" (think about it...). Personally, I like to make a Banana / Strawberry mixed shake. The staff at Ann's is the BEST. They do not write down your order - it is all done from memory. No matter how many items you need to order and how many different combinations you give them - they remember them ALL! Their menu is very simple: Dog's, Burgers, Steak Subs, Shakes, Fries, Ice cream cones - that makes up 99% of what they offer! But they do them better than anyone else! So why make a ton of things that are mediocre when you can make a few things that are FANTASTIC. If you like Chili Dog's and Cheeseburger subs and "homemade" shakes - you can't beat Ann's!!!!

I usually only stop by here when I'm across the street sitting at Starbucks and I don't want to drive too far to get something to eat. I know that this place has been here since the time of the dinosaurs and is a Glen Burnie staple, but I just can't give a stellar rating based on the history. The service is ok...nothing special. I've experienced neither bad service nor great service. They are ALWAYS busy and seem to want to just get everyone in and out. I can respect that though. The food is just...ok. I've had their footlongs and their burgers, and their shakes and fries. None of which are any better than any other of these things at a different restaurant. I mean, they're hot dogs...how amazing can they get?

If your looking for a quick bit, then Ann's is the place to visit. Much better than a greasy burger place. Get a dog and a shake and your in heaven. P.S. Don't forget ... Cash only!

When I think of this place I get goosebumps and my taste buds come alive. Located in front of the Marley Station Mall or whatsever left of it, Ann's has been a Glen Burnie staple for 63 years now. In my book, that's pretty impressive for any business let alone a Dari Creme that serves hot dogs and milkshakes as its specialities. Don't come expecting ambiance because you won't get it...Basically, the employees who take your order get you in and get you out because it's mainly a to-go establishment. There are a few stools available for dine-in, but since the place is always busy you will always hear orders being taken from other customers! The customer service is awesome. Literally, I have heard some orders that would boggle the mind, but for the employees here they can memorize anything that's given to them! For me, the doubledog with everything works everytime.

Been a fan of this place since the 70's. Used to live in Glen Burnie as a kid. Best footlongs that I have ever had. I think it is the bread. Took my daughter here for some daddy/daughter time and it was magical. Had a small fry and split a footlong.I am not a big fan of cheese and chili, but these dogs dont need any of that. I forgot that I really wanted a hamburger sub, and if my daughter hadnt been with me to narc to my wife that I ate like a pig, I would have ordered one. To top it off, we got a banana shake. Very tasty. Not the best that I have ever had, but pretty far up there. There is only seating for about 10 at the counter. The counter also serves as the place to order, so people are reaching around you to get their food. Also, it is only cash. I witnessed 2 people with there ath didnt have cash. They did have an ATM right there though. This is just greasy food that you need every once in a blue moon. I also love institutions like this. They are American and if they are quality, they endure. Thanks for a great day with my daughter Anne's.

Ann's was on my Hot Dog Bucket List (yes, I have one of those) and I was not disappointed. I double dogged (I'm just going to go ahead and verb that) which ended up being the right decision-the buns are deep, so having two dogs on top of each other in there guarantees you the right ratio of ingredients in every bite. Why haven't other places figured this out? I was good with just one dog-it's hard to tell with hot dog places how big the dog is going to be, but I'm here to tell you these were fair sized on hoagie-ish buns. You'll be pretty good with one and fries and a shake. Also, I am not a huge chili person HOWEVER, I was all about Ann's. There's a bit of sweetness and enough of that chili meaty taste without being too much of anything. It was perfect in my opinion. We also got milkshakes which were, you know, milkshakes. Which is to say, I liked them a lot. You may have already gathered that Ann's has limited seating. There's seating in the back at picnic tables and counter seats, but other than that, you're on your own. Consider taking these to go or try to keep an eye out for seats and people getting ready to leave (but don't crowd-that's just bad form). The food comes out amazingly fast and is plenty worth the wait!

Ann's Dari-Creme is a Gwen Burnie institution. No, that's not a typo. Real Gwen Burnians know that the "L" in their town's name is lazily omitted and replaced with more of a "W" sound, but even that is not really pronounced -- just drop your jaw and -- okay, never mind. Let's talk about the food instead. The story of Ann's tenacity is legendary. When Marwey Station Maw (there's the accent again) was built, the developers tried and tried to get the ramshackle Ann's to sell. It wouldn't budge, and so it remained at the edge of the property, an eyesore on the face of the pristine, homogeneous parking lot. And as time has passed, the mall itself has become horribly dated (not to mention borderline dangerous) while Ann's retains its roadside charm. The line is always out the door; be patient and wait, dreaming of the greasy fried goodness you're about to enjoy. Your choices are pretty limited. Subs come in tiny (roll,) medium (six-inch,) and large (footlong;) you have a choice of hamburger, steak, hot dog or double dog, which is exactly what it sounds like. Add toppings of cheese, mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, chili, hot peppers, mushrooms, and / or onion (raw or fried.) Order a side of French fries and a milkshake. If you were so foolish as to have already eaten dinner, order an ice cream cone and stare sadly at the people around you, who are about to experience nirvana. The hot dogs are deep-fried, which leave them crispy on the outside. The steak is paper-thin and the cheese melts right into it. Rolls are soft with a chewy crust, substantial enough to stand up to a full array of toppings. Fries are crispy and piping hot; shakes are creamy and thick. Ask for chocolate banana. They'll roll their eyes, but they'll do it. It's a testament to Ann's that their workers are all middle-aged. Teenagers have neither the brain power to remember the variables for four different sandwiches at once nor the gravitas to stare you into making a decision quickly, which these wonderfully surly ladies will do. It's loud and hot and chaotic inside. Take your food out to one of the dusty benches under the shade of a scrubby tree. In Gwen Burnie, we call this a "park." Enjoy your dinner, hon!

If you like that classic grill food, you have to check Ann's out. The cheese steaks are pretty great and I've heard awesome things about both the hot dogs (especially the double dogs) and their shakes. Ann's is pretty much ALWAYS packed, standing room only, shoulder to shoulder with everyone else but the most impressive thing about the place is that the person taking your order takes it and has it all made/rings you up all by memory!! The biggest thing to remember about it, however, is that it is a cash only place (they do have an ATM though).

I have been going here since I was a kid, and I always order a cherry milkshake,a chili cheese dog, and some fries. It is with great respect that I declare that this is redneck comfort food at its best. Of course, you don't have to be a redneck to enjoy it. Ann's is, and always has been, a part of my life. There's something about the experience that you just can't replicate. Though I live out of state now, I still go to Ann's whenever I'm in the area. The ladies who run the place are always on top of the game. If apocalypse came and all computers disappeared, they could run the banks of greater Glen Burnie with their superior arithmetic skills and knack for juggling multiple tasks at once. Just remember, the tip jar is there for a reason. They deserve it. Oh and if you do get the fries, remember to pick up a salt packet before you leave.

I came here last summer, sadly after already eating dinner so I only got a milkshake and didn't get a chance to to try the hot dogs, which looked delicious. The chocolate milk shake was perfect. I'll definitely try to get their this summer and try the hot dog's. I don't know if this place amazed me as much as it's amazed other people, but still good enough to make the trip back to Pasadena at some point.

Having grown up in the Glen Burnie area, this place is the town staple. Their menu hasn't really changed in... forever. Like many hometown staples, the attraction here is nostalgia. The food and milkshakes are good, but their cheesesteaks are basically just steak-ums and their footlongs are thin long hot dogs cooked in grease. With that said, it's still a very popular local shack and gets crowded particularly around lunch time. There's not really much seating inside (a couple of bar stools at the counter), but if you want to eat inside, be prepared to have people standing right behind you and reaching over you. The most amazing thing about Ann's is the way the workers can take 8 orders at a time, never write a thing down, and get them right about 95% of the time. My dad takes out-of-towners there just to see that.

Tried everything! Nothing to complain about. My favorites are the cheeseburger, cheesesteak, and banana shake!!! They have reasonable prices and wait time.. the only down fall is that they are known for not writing down what you want on it. And twice when I''ve gone they forgot stuff on my subs! But I just went back in and got the toppings without a problem. But even without them dinner was still delicious! This place is pretty much a regular joint. Definitely recommend going to for good subs and things like that!!

Ann's is one of my favorite places to go anywhere! Hot dogs are one of my favorite foods, so I consider myself to be somewhat of an expert on them, and Ann's are totally 5-star. Be prepared when you go -- it's cash only. There is an ATM but it may not work. You may not see the ladies writing down your order but don't fret, they know the entire thing inside and out. If you want "everything" - it includes chili, mustard, and onions. They do have other things, but you should start with that. The double dog is a classic if you can handle it because it fills out the large buns. Prices are so reasonable and the food is yummy. Fries are okay. I like mine crispy but these aren't bad. Get a milkshake! They're thick and creamy and just like heaven in a cup. If there's a line, it's worth it. It may look like madness but they know what they're doing. Just stand your ground until you get to the front of the counter, step to the side when you're done ordering, and the ladies will take care of the rest!

I have been going here for over 20 years and the quality of service have really gone downhill. The new staff is extremely rude and have absolutely no customer service skills. The last three times we went our orders were incorrect. The one time they forgot our fries and when my husband went back in to get them, they accused him of eating them and trying to get more for free! The staff has a bad attitude when they make errors and they seem to be making them much more frequently. Its ashame because it used to be a nice place for a picnic dinner.

  • Brian H.

The hot dogs tasted like sweat and piss and the service is terrible. I've tried it a few times since its apparently such a classic Glen Burnie tradition but I don't get it. They must use the cheapest garbage hot dogs on earth. Another time I ordered a foot long cheese steak and I was given a footlong hotdog and a cheesesteak, when I said that wasn't what I ordered I was basically told that I was stupid and that I'd have to pay for both. I didn't feel like arguing with the nasty old hag so I just paid. Every other time i went there i felt unwelcomed and treated as if i was a fool for not being a local and knowing their ordering ritual. Gross and crappy service. The lack of taste by locals is the only reason this has survived so long.

Cash only! Something that has always been here , just in case this is your 1st visit. The hot dogs here are deep fried and are delious, there is single footlong and double dog footlong options. The cheese steaks are great, I would ask for it with everything! The milkshakes have always been great, Banana is my personal favorite, but you can order something more regular like chocolate. Ice cream dipped in fudge and toped with sprinkles is always a nice. The fries here are also something i would never skip out of on my meals here! BE prepared to wait, this place can be busy and some what confusing. Normally there is someone taking orders and yelling them , there is signs above for guidance.

Any kid of Pasadena/ Glen Burnie raising knows how to order properly. Theres a style and finesse of this pace. Mine? "Half a double, mustard fried onions, coke and a vanilla". This is a nostalgic greasy spoon with attitude. The chicks change out over the years, but the food is always the same. Real dairy ice cream. Reasonable pricing, fast service. Cash only. Dont look like a dweeb when they have to point at the atm.

If you're in the mood for a hot dog and are in the Glen Burnie area, go here. This place is a no-frills joint established more than half a century ago. I used to go here all the time with my family as a kid and after a brief five year hiatus while I was on the west coast, I've been back to this place a few more times. The staff is pretty amazing during busy times because they don't use pencil and paper to remember orders and I've never seen them get an order wrong or ask for a reminder. The food is the same as it has always been. My personal favorite are double-dogs with everything (essentially a foot-long hot dog folded in half, placed on an italian roll, smothered with their chili, mustard and onions). Their (no-beans) chili is pretty fantastic and that's coming from a guy who doesn't really like chili. I also like their shakes because their creamy and just the right size. The fries are not very good, but there is more than enough here to satisfy your appetite. The prices are very reasonable with a significant sandwich (half a double dog) coming in at just over three dollars. There is not really any place to sit beyond the bar where you order so don't expect to eat here if it's busy. I look forward to coming back to this place for years and years...

  • Tim S.

I've probably been to Ann's over twenty times in my life, and it's just not the same anymore. Used to be staffed by ladies who could remember 10+ orders at a time, communicating with each other through clicks and whistles, so that the five people behind the counter would all do their part to present your order of hotdogs, fries and a shake in a matter of minutes, just after the guy in from of you in line received his. To me it has never actually been about the food . . . It was the experience. That, unfortunately, is just not the same as it was years ago. P.S. Please don't complain about the flavor (or lack thereof) of your encased pig parts, nobody thinks hotdog connoisseurs are cool.

    (3)
  • David A.

Get the double! Ann's is what it is; an old school hot dog/shake stand that has been around for 60 years. You can get a footlong hot dog for $3. Really, I should have to write nothing further. The dogs are deep fried, and by default are topped with chili, mustard and onion. I would definitely advise a potential customer to get the double. They put their footlongs in sub rolls (which are fresh and delicious), and the single just doesn't feel substantial in a roll that size. I mean, I suppose you could go elsewhere and order a reasonable portion of something, but why? Their shakes won't blow your mind but are good enough. For the vibe and the price, you can't beat Ann's. Just pull in on a hot summer night, order a double and a shake, and you will feel sixteen again...minus the acne and all the awkward heavy petting.

I am a fan of this place. I am biased because I have lived in this area most of my life and have always had them, they're really the only "hot dog" place in the area...think about it. They specialize in foot longs. When you walk in there are 4-5 ladies working the counter. They will yell at you, dont be scared. They're just trying to get the ridiculious line moving quicker by having you scream your order past the other 3 patrons who have already placed their orders. The place is so small, you kind of have to. It's a CASH ONLY place. Remember that. I tend to forget sometimes. Their chili is good, but only on the hot dog. I wouldn't sit down with a bowl of it for lunch. I get ketchup mustard and chili. My husband thinks im crazy for getting ketchup and chili but it's my hot dog darn it. The actual hot dogs are deep fried, and they are crispy and delicious, the bun is toasted on the grill, which i love. My favorite part of an ann's foot long is the first and last bite because it's just bun and dog and they're so crispy and crunchy it's amazingly good. But I wouldn't want my whole dog to be like that, I like to spice it up. They have amazing shakes. The fries are just ok. Not boardwalk fries, but not mcdonalds fries... I can't quite describe them properly. I'd like to also note how cheap it is to eat here, The hot dogs are like $2, it's amazing! The only reason this place isn't getting 4 stars is for the following reasons: The girls at the counter do not write anything down, they scream the order to the fry girl who deep fries your hot dog. When I was younger until the age of about 16 I have never had my order messed up. Recently they have hired a batch of nasty glen burnie girls who can't remember squat to do their screaming and I have ended up with onions on my dog more than I would like to admit (for their sake. it's a good place, please go). When returning with the incorrect hot dog to get a replacement hot dog, you are insulted. Numberous times I have been told that this is what I ordered. It was not. Im not an idiot and I get the same thing every time. The customer is always right.

When I was a kid, Ann's was a great place to eat. Everything was delicious and the people took so much pride in their work. Nowadays, the place is filled with teenagers working there, and they jabber on and on about stuff, and it takes forever to get your food. And no, their hot dogs are not the best; in fact, their hot dogs are quite bland, like the rest of their food. Their ice cream is good, but then again, it's hard to mess up ice cream.

  • John S.

I really dont understand what the big deal about this place is... Very average in all respects. If im going to throw decent eating to the curb, im not going to waste my time here. Im guessing that the only reason that this place is still here is just it's history. It wasn't bad but i certainly wasn't impressed.

  • Jennifer T.

Their new staffing doesn't do well remembering the orders. I think they might need to start writing them down. 9 out of 10 times we have to take our order back in but it doesn't stop us from going there, food is amazing and love tailgating in the nice weather on a friday or saturday night.

Great old-school ice cream and hot dog stand. Some stands try to look retro, but this one is the real deal.

  • Dak E.

I've tried this place a couple of times. It's disappointing. Cheap hot dogs on generic foot long submarine sandwich buns without any significant toppings to fix the lack of quality. The ice cream is pretty bland too. On top of that, they are cash only. Their saving bets come in from two different directions. First, they have a great location to bring in lots of business. Secondly, most people from MD don't know what good hot dogs are like, otherwise they wouldn't keep them afloat. Sorry Ann, but you guy's just don't have it.

    (1)
  • Jason S.

It's not the same as it always was, but it is still good. I feel like a kid everytime I walk in and get me a double dog with everything then stick around for a Jumbo cone with sprinkles. Life is always a little better when you spend it with ANNE.

  • Frank G.

Ann's Dari Creme is the type of place I really want to like, but it just didn't live up to the hype. While a deep friend hot dog sounds ZOMG AWESOME!!1!, grilling is what brings out the flavor. So my double foot long with chili and onions didn't taste like much of anything... it was just something I wolfed down and tried not to spill on my tie. It wasn't disgusting or anything, just meh. The fact that they used a decent hoagie roll and the "charm factor," however, earned Ann's two stars.

This place is a must stop when in the area! Personally I go for the double dog with everything. Everything meaning chili, mustard, onions. The combination of chili, fried dog, and onions when the chili bonds with the steak sub type roll is heaven! Of course everything on the menu is great. The shakes, fries, chesseburger subs, etc... But to not get a dog is like going to Rome and NOT seeing the Sistine Chapel. Oh yeah, keep an eye on the staff. They track 10 to 15 orders at a time, mistake free, and never write anything down! Truly amazing!

My husband has been bringing me here for over 26 years now so it's become tradition that each time we visit my mother in law in Ferndale Ann's is our next stop before heading home to Rosedale. I love that this is a place that I've been able to share with my kids and they love it as much as I do. It's always tough for me to choose between the double dog or chili cheeseburger sub so most of the time we get both and hubby and I split them. You can always count on the fries to be hot and perfectly crispy. The chocolate milkshakes are simply heavenly, I have yet to try the other flavors because I don't want to miss out on my favorite. The prices are much more reasonable and the quality and quantity of food you get for your money can't be beat at any fast food chain plus the employees manage to get every order right, without writing it down - McDonald's and the rest of them rarely get my orders right even with it on a computer screen in front of them. I hope this place is around for me to share with my grandchildren.

Been going there for 15 years and never once have they messed up my order that's amazing since they don't write down what you want

Ann's is the BEST for footlongs. Been going there since I was a kid... always go back for one of their double chili dogs with a shake. Living in Texas now, the chili dogs here- if you can find them-just do not compare. People here think that Sonic is good. At any rate- I always have to return to Maryland and make a drive to the " Glen" to visit Ann's. A summer time ritual, no doubt. For Cheesesteaks there are other alternatives - Gino's in Arnold - or Maria D's in Baltimore are better.... but for "dogs" - go to Ann's.

I Grew up in G.B. and Grew up eating Ann's so maybe I am biased but I love the place and the food I stop in every time that I am in town.

I found this place on Google on a recent trip to Maryland, and we decided to give it a try. I am so glad we did! My hubby and I split a foot long hot dog with everything, an order of fries, and half a cheese steak with onions and hot peppers. Everything was delicious. We wanted to go back for more, but the line was so long! Obviously this is a good sign. We were there around 1 p.m. on a Thursday and it was packed! We will definitely be going to Ann's again the next time we travel to Maryland for a weekend getaway!

Stopped at ann's a week or so go. The line was long but the hot dogs were disappointing. Bf has been eating there for years and he said the food wasn't what it usually was quality wise. Not really interested in giving it a second go or recommending it to anyone. imho, it must be a townie tradition.

This was my first time at Ann's. Great local flavor, old school and and an original. Great deep fried dogs! I got the double footlong with chili, mustard, and onion on a great roll, milkshake and fries. Definitely check it out when you're in Baltimore. Don't forget to get a picture next to the superdawg out front.

Perhaps one of the best hot dogs ever, the cheesesteak subs are excellent

I've gone to philly to try pat's and genos and their cheese steaks were nothing to write home about and they were both tremendously overpriced. Ann's cheese steaks are great! I love their "everything". It comes with chili, onions, relish, mustard, pickles and it works well together. They also have great footlong hotdogs and ice cream. Dipped cones, milkshakes and sundaes. Get the pineapple milkshake it's not on the menu, it's a secret to most but they put they pineapple sundae topping in the shake too.

On my way to DELMARVA bike week, we took a slight detour to have a double chili cheese to hold us during the trip. This is one of those places that if you've never been, you need to go at least once. Service is friendly, dogs are ok, it's a hot dog... etc....

Ann's was just "ok". I just moved here from DE and there was a place in New Castle on RT. 13 called "The Dog House". That place I'd eat at everyday until I had a heart attack. Ann's was more hype from locals that probably don't know any better. I got a footlong with lettuce, tomato, onion and mustard. That's how I always got my hotdogs from The Dog House. Ann's buns were good but the hotdog was unflavorful. It was actually hard to even notice it with my toppings. The service was fast and the price was great which gave it 3 stars. Food alone would have been 2 stars.

I got a bit concerned when the GPS told me I was 0.1 miles from Ann's, and all I could see was the Macy's sign at the shopping mall next door. As we pulled up in our rented, awful, neo-classic Chevy HHR, I was already feeling a bit of a tool. A great hot dog could have cheered me up...and although Ann's looked the part, it just didn't deliver. I had a foot long with everything (onion, mustard, chili). I also had fries. The dog: the dog itself was below average. It tasted about the same as the kind you got in high school on foot long hotdog day. I still don't know what kind of meat it was. It was just meat flavored. The toppings: these were a bit better. The chili was a nice minced ground beef. It added a nice flavor, though not overpowering. The bread: the hogie roll was a good touch...it was toasted (I think) on the grill, so it had some flavor to it. It was a bit big, but with the chili on the dog, it all worked out ok. I didn't have the shakes, but everyone seemed to be buying them like they were going out of style. The dog was $2.95, which is pretty good for something that is the size of two normal dogs. Unfortunately, the taste wasn't much to marvel at. The people working there were nice, so points for that. Mean people are the worst.

I feel like there is something wrong with me, lol. After reading all the reviews, I felt like I was missing out on something and went to Ann's Dairi Creme with my husband. The line was out the door so I was really expecting something special. I was disappointed. The hot dogs were just OK in my opinion. The fries and shakes were really good, but I feel like I've eaten better hot dogs from street vendors. I really don't get the hype surrounding this place! Maybe it was an off day? I will probably go back to give them another shot, but for now I'm only giving it 3 stars.

If you want friendly service, a place to sit, or food that has an aesthetic value- do not go here. Ann's has been around for years making a very small menu, but doing it well. The footlong with everything looks a little...gross...but it is totally delicious. Washed down with a vanilla milkshake, this is the perfect meal. I promise you, you will never find a better milkshake anywhere.

Go! You need a footlong, a shake & some fries. Good chili (mild - I'm a wimp) and they don't drown the dog. You can even get two weiners on your giant bun (slight crunch to it and a bit of cornmeal on the underside). Bonus: soft serve ice cream!

  • Matt W.

I like Ann's. It's a simple good kind of place that takes you back in time. The food is alright, nothing fancy and nothing to complain about. If the staff yells at you, you probably deserve it. things move quickly and you need to know what you want when they ask for your order.

    (4)
  • Frank J.

Looks and seems like it would be great, but it's really not even worth a visit. The dog isn't great (the rolls are certainly above average) and the ice cream is nothing special either. It can be hard to get your order in if they're busy, and the staff won't necessarily be eager to aid if you don't really speak up, which can be disoriented to a newcomer who thinks there might be a queue happening (the hectic and sometimes-unhelpful nature of Ann's when busy would be fun if the food was better).

You go here for tasty cheap food that makes you remember your childhood days. Everything cooked on the grill here is probably horrible for you, but OH SO GOOD!!!! Good french fries! They deep-fry their hot dogs, so if you've got a cholesterol issue, I don't recommend it. Great cheesesteak subs! I also can't leave this place without getting an ice cream cone with jimmies! Super creamy ice cream that makes me feel like I'm 5 years old again! Love this place!!!

When I lived in Glen Burnie, I used to go here all the time. Everytime I go up north to visit my family in MD, I make it a priority to go to Ann's. Its been a tradition in Glen Burnie for over 50 years. It may be a tiny diner with only about 8 seats along the cash register, but the line is out the door onto the street every single time I go here. It gets so packed you will be elbow to elbow with everyone. Ann has worked there forever, making the best hot dogs & milkshakes. They have a horrible website, but you can check them out at annsdaricreme.com . I recommend the double dog with everything, which does include chili. When you get here, you better know what you want b/c they will look at you like you are a newbie who has no idea or business stepping into the place. The fries and ice cream here are great as well. Just thinking about this place makes me want to hop on a plane to get a hot dog; I can't find anything that compares in Orlando!

This joint deserves to be on the front page of search results. If you live anywhere in central maryland, make the trip. I'd put it on my list of Maryland classics with Matthews Pizza, G&M Crabcakes, Captain Harveys Cheesesteaks - and of course Ann's Dari Cream Hot Dogs. They have a classic grill menu (burgers, steak subs, etc...), but the specialty of Ann's is the hot dog. Now I'm not a big fan of hot dogs in general and never eat them with the exception of a baseball game and whenever I drive past Ann's. Ann's dog has made me change my perspective on the hot dog as a meal option. You can get either single or double dogs as a whole or half footlong. Hot dogs are deep fried in vegetable oil, and traditionally served with diced onion, mustard, Cincinatti style chili on a hoagie roll NOT a bun. Don't pass on the chili, without it the hot dog isn't as robust on the roll. The rest of the stuff on the menu is also good largely because it's all served on the same delicious roll. Fries are very good but not spectacular as too are the milkshakes. Try the Footlong Double Dog with everything, order of fries and a chocolate milkshake... you'll keep coming back.

For a place that doesn't look like much, doesn't accept credit cards and has been here forever this place is awesome. Everything tastes good and is priced great. I don't even like hot dogs but I love them here, the milkshakes are delicious and the ice cream is good. Nothing to complain about. Cheap and tasty.

I'm visiting from LA where Pink's and Skooby's are the dogs of renown. The shuttle driver at the BWI Hyatt told me I had to try Ann's and when I walked in the door, I knew I had found something very special. The hoagie bun is light and fresh, the dog exquisite and the chili remniscient of what another LA icon, Tommy's, uses on their burgers. The flavors of Ann's dog blend together so well, I found myself laughing aloud at my good fortune to find this gem. Five Stars/World Class Dog. Sundae with "wet walnuts" was good. Fries were crisp and better than most. Girls working the counter were great.

I've lived in the Glen Burnie Maryland area for most of my life. This Glen Burnie institution is thus somewhere that I have driven past atleast a few thousand times, however until recently I had never set foot in the place. While many families from the area have been going here for decades, I'm not technically from the area, my family is a NYC/Long Island transplant and the general concensus in my home growing up was that Maryland is not a place that knows how to do a hotdog. Recently though I've learned to be a little bit less of a snob and view trying the MD things that I once viewed as strange as no different than trying new ethnic foods. Long story short I went there and ate and decided to give it three stars. Was the footlong hotdog covered in raw onion and public school cafeteria quality chilli that was placed on a sub roll and cut in half that great? No... in fact it was a pretty awful bland cheap pork dog as seems to be the norm in MD (see Camden Yards). It also ran through me and gave me indigestion, a nasty stomach ache, and eventually diahrhea. Point is that this isn't Nathan's or Gray's. So why three stars? Because its actually a really cool place in that it has been doing what it does the same way for over 50 years. I honestly will probably never eat there again... but I have to respect a place where you can have the same experience today as you would have had 50 years ago.

Another fantastic meal at Ann's. In business now for 65 years. I'm a relative newcomer - have only been coming here for 45 years. The best thing is that it never changes. Watching the order taking can keep you fascinated for a long time. No computer, no paper and pencil, just good old memory of every detail of your order. The food, as always, is the best. I'm a cheeseburger sub person with "hots". Everything else all the way - chili, mustard, onions, pickles and relish. Add the freshest roll and you've got a sandwich worth traveling from Texas for. Sadly, I only get to stop at Ann's 3 or 4 times a year. But, I never miss a visit any time I get close to Baltimore or Washington. Don't miss it!

Ann's is solid. I've been going here since I was born and I have nothing but great things to say about this place. It's tiny, has a no-nonsense menu, and is cash only. Burgers and hot dogs are always great. Shakes are amazing! I love watching the ladies that work there, I'm mesmerized by how quickly and efficiently they make everything. I've never been here and there not be a line out the door. Know exactly what you want by the time you get to the register because these ladies are busy!

Cash Only - Check Parking - Check Simple Menu - Check Line out the door - Check Definately worth the wait and the dogs with chili were delicious. The buns on point. I pass by Ann's every morning to work and see the delivery of fresh buns.

After all of the stellar reviews of this place, I definitely expected better than what I received. I ordered a double dog with "the works" (which apparently consists of mustard, onions and chili - not that there's anything wrong with that, but where's the pickle relish?) - this was supposed to include cheese, but I'll be damned if I saw (or tasted) any on there. It was just "okay" - it was remarkable for the size of the thing, which admittedly was generous. But the taste? Well, I'll just say this - I actually think a packaged Hebrew National tastes better, to be honest. The bun was just a bun, nothing really special about it. The fries were just okay, also nothing special. I had expected maybe hand-cut fries or something, but.... they were just plain old fries that I could have gotten at, say, Sonic or the like. Nothing to write home about. If they'd had malt vinegar on offer, I think it would have been a LOT better experience - these were definitely fries that could have soaked up that goodness with ease and a lot more besides. I also ordered a cherry shake, and was underwhelmed. It tasted like a McDonald's vanilla shake with an "afterthought" of cherry syrup swirled in (and believe me, it was definitely an afterthought). I get that this place is iconic - any business that's been around for 65+ years, it's got to have something special about it. Maybe I just didn't order the right thing, I don't know. The only soothing balm is that I really didn't spend hardly any money here. The prices are dirt cheap, I'll give them that much. The entire meal was just a little over ten dollars, which in today's economy is a steal. No place to sit in there, so plan on going outside with your meal or to sit in your car. Not the ideal setting for a hot-ass July day. Definitely cash only. Know what you want and be quick about it - they weren't overly gruff with me, but if they don't urge you to hurry, the line behind you will. I may come back and try something else on the menu, but I sure wasn't impressed by what I did have. Disappointed.

Mixed emotions......that's what I have with this place. The whole place oozes nostalgia, taking you back to a 50's era ice cream shop. There are only a few stools by the bar, but if the place is crowded don't count on sitting at any of them unless you like getting elbows in your back and shoved out of the way as people crowd to the counter to order. And they only take cash, so come prepared.....they do have an ATM inside, if you can get to it. As for the food & treats....the shakes are amazing, highly recommended. I personally love the banana, but haven't had a bad one. The food.....so-so. The hot dogs are deep fried, which some people love, personally it doesn't do anything for me. After years of only getting ice cream, I really wanted to try their chili dogs that I'd heard so much about, but honestly was a bit disappointed. The chili was bland, and really just made the bun (hoagie bun, not a typical hot dog bun) soggy. Fries are good, but I think when I go back I'll just stick to the shakes. Oh.....and don't worry if the person behind the counter doesn't write down your order. They don't write down anything, but somehow remember everything, even on a complex order, and always get the price right. But know what you want by the time you get to the counter, they're not known for their patience.

Let me explain why five stars and not less, last night took the dog and gave him a treat for National dog day. First, this a cash only, there is an Atm and its a $1.00 surcharge, the menu is simple, Wednesday night was busy, but keep in mind the place is tiny, five customers its packed. My understanding the building was a gas station a long time ago, prior to Wawas, keep that in mind. There was plenty of seating OUTSIDE, which was great for a 100# Rottweiler to enjoy a footlong hotdog. The hotdogs are fried, keep that in mind, also they are simple hotdogs, nothing special, however the bun was the selling point, fresh, big and more of a roll. The french fries good and hot, ketchup is packets and its not heinz or hunts. Here's the Wow factor, there were three ladies working one maning the grill, one on shakes and the greeter, she welcomes you call out the orders, fills the bags and takes the cash. She doesn't write it down, she was polite and thanked me. If you like to have a stranger gush all over you and kiss your butt, Anns is not the place for you, they are friendly, professional, courteous BUT they are busy. The food is simple, the menu is simple and its a throw back to a different era.

3.5 stars - I've been coming to Ann's since I was a little kid- I used to smile in awe when walking into the quaint little restaurant that boasts a select few bar stools and a crowd of people standing around waiting for their orders. I was excited to see that nothing has changed! This place is Cash only- So make sure you remember to take some $$. When you walk in, take a look at the menu right away- a cheese burger sub with everything or a foot long double dog with everything add cheese are safe bets. A dipped cone is also fantastic if you're there just for dessert. After a minute or so, someone looks at you from behind the bar and shouts 'Have you ordered yet!?' you look around to see if they're talking to you or someone next to you.... No one else is saying anything so you shout out your first item... as you wait for them to write that down, you notice they're still staring at you.... they don't write anything down, no matter how long or complicated your order is. These people are serious pros. Once you've shouted out your whole order, they'll shout out to everyone what you've got- they'll ring you up and shout your total as you hand over some cash across the counter and get your change. Then you step aside and watch everyone else come in and go through the motion. You can tell who has been there before by the concerned look on their faces not knowing how to go about the ordering process. It's kinda fun to watch :) I don't recommend coming here in hopes of eating inside- rather plan to take it to go or enjoy it on one of the multiple tables / benches that are scattered about surrounding the parking lot. The subs/hotdogs themselves aren't the most amazing things in the world, but they're pretty good and their style is very unique and difficult to get anywhere else so I suggest you swing in to give them a taste. Their dipped ice cream is definitely above average though!

It was just ok. Nothing to rave about. We've loved her for over 20 years and I had never stepped in until my hubby suggested today. I make better chili dogs at home. The only upside is they were fast, friendly and courteous and my fries were super hot and crisp.

Ann's is a unique food stop that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. I stop here frequently to pick up a double cheesesteak on the weekends. If you come in Saturday evening, grab some Ann's then slide over to the Marley Station Mall car show. Some advice; bring cash and listen to the folks I front of you on how they order.

I gave this place one star because I couldn't give it zero, so many people said this place is great but I just don't see it, their chili dog is so nasty I couldn't even finish it. It taste like they have been using the same chili for like a year and just reheating it. I will say that their ice cream is the only thing worth going there for but the customers service is just rude and they treat you like your stupid because you don't know their tradition of ordering things, and watch out because regulars will cut in front of you in a heart beat. If they build a sonics across the street this place would be closed next week.

This place seems to be a fixture, and practically a historical landmark in Glen Burnie. Amusingly enough, it seems to get more traffic than the mall right next to it, which makes me wonder whether the mall is just doing that poorly, or if this place is doing great. Honestly, it's probably both. The dipped cones, at around two dollars, is a delicious steal. I get the small every time, and from the amount that they give me, I'd assume was at least a medium. Honestly, the small is always enough to sate me, and my stomach often stays up at night wondering what sort of ambiguous dessert dream / nightmare the large would be. I wish the food was an equally amazing. They're not bad at all, but also at the same time not great. The value is decent as well as the taste. Five stars for the cones, three stars for the food. One of these days, I'll be back to try the milkshakes, which I hear are promising.

    (4)
  • Cathee L.

Fun place with decent food. I wouldn't go here for an elegant meal or for extensive options, but it has a great atmosphere and is legendary in the community. And the milkshakes are amaaaaazing. Cash only, long line, and limited outdoor seating --but worth it if it's a nice day and you have the craving for something not-so-healthy.

    (4)
  • K A.

More than anything this place is a local treasure. No, none of the food there is going to blow you away. But it is good. Consistently. A satisfying meal or treat at a great price with an atmosphere that cant be beat. If you dont know the story of Ann's, take some time to read the news papers on the wall. Its a pretty remarkable story.

  • Eimile J.

One of our favorite spots! This place is a part of our family history and will always be a great facet to the community. My husband and I try to stop in when we can, as well as when the line is not too long to, and grab a footling or cheese steak when in the area. Be prepared with what you want to order and don't forget all the fixings. The ladies behind the counter will take care of you and make you a spot on cheese stake. Maybe a little wait when it's busy but it's worth it.

So what does one do when visiting this place and is a vegetarian ? Order an ice cream of coarse. Hands down this is the creamiest, tastiest, most scrumptious ice cream you'll ever have. Go ahead try it and tell me I'm wrong.

    (4)

Ok so I'm giving them five stars because their hotdogs and hotdog sauce are phenomenal! However, the icecream could be better, but that's not the reason I go there.

A childhood favorite ruined by the horrible rushed service. Out visiting from Colorado and wanted to bring my son and husband to experience Anns but I regret it after dealing with the rude and rushed staff. Sorry that we aren't pros at your ordering system but the eye rolling isn't called for.

I don't drink milkshakes much, but I had a strawberry banana, it was delicious and the fries was good to... Just wish the added a veggie or turkey burger to the menu, I don't eat red meat, but for those that do, the sub rolls looked really good!
